vegetable oil: 5 tbsp
green bell pepper: 1
yellow onion: 1
lean ground beef: 3 pounds
beef bouillon cubes: 2
red wine: 1/3 cup
cans of peeled tomatoes: 2
crushed garlic cloves
tomato paste: 1 can
paprika: 1 1/2 tbsp
cayenne pepper: 1 tbsp
basil: 2 1/2 tbsp
oregano: 2 tbsp
Parsley: 2 tbsp
black pepper: 1/2 tbsp
salt: 1 tbsp
drops of hot pepper sauce: 10
kidney beans: 1 can
flour: 3 tbsp
corn meal: 3 tbsp
water: 1/2 cup
How To Make Chili con carne
- Spread oil in a large saucepan. Cook over medium heat until it is just about to smoke
- Add green pepper and onion until it is softened
- Add the beef and cook until it has become browned
- Add bits of bouillon cubes
- Pour wine, tomatoes, garlic and tomato paste
- Season it with paprika, chili powder, cayenne pepper, basil oregano and parsley
- Now add in some salt and pepper
- Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.
- Reduce the heat to medium low. Cover the pan and let the mixture simmer for about 90 minutes.
- Add kidney beans and hot pepper sauce.
- In a separate bowl, add together the flour, corn meal and water until a thick mixture is created.
- Add in chili and cook for a further 10 minutes.
