Amlana is a fun and delicious drink that originates from Rajasthan. It’s made with tamarind pulp, seasoned with pepper and cardamom and garnished with mint. This drink is packed full of taste and the subsequent benefits you get from spices and herbs. The most salient feature of this beverage is, of course, the tamarind. But each spice affects the taste as a whole. Experiment adjusting the levels of spices and herbs in this drink to create a tonic that is truly your own.

Transfer the blended juice into a tumbler and sip on! Also, store it in your flask, so you can have a cup when you feel like it.

Ingredients

tbsp chopped tamarind: 2

cup – powdered sugar: 1/2

tsp freshly ground black pepper: 1/4

tsp cardamom powder: 1/4

tsp black salt: 1/2

salt to taste

tbsp finely chopped mint leaves: 2

How To Make Amlana

  1. Combine tamarind and 1 cup of water in a deep bowl and mix well. Cover with a lid and set aside for 2 hours. 
  2. Blend the tamarind-water mixture to smooth. Squeeze and strain the pulp in a deep bowl using a muslin cloth.
  3. Add powdered sugar, spice powders, black salt, salt, and 3 cups of water.
  4. Mix well and refrigerate for atleast an hour.
  5. Garnish with mint leaves and enjoy.
