The Signs and Symptoms of Diabetes

Diabetes is a chronic disease that affects millions of people from around the world. A person develops diabetes when their body either fails to produce insulin properly or is unable to properly utilize the insulin that is produced. There is no cure for diabetes; once a person has it, either from being born with it (type -1 diabetes) or developing it (type-2 diabetes), they can only work to regulate it.

Regulating and managing a person’s diabetes is extremely important as failure to do so can lead to some serious consequences, including shock, death, seizures, and organ failure. Diabetes is not something to play around with in any sense. That being said, it is important to familiarize yourself with the symptoms of diabetes, even if you do not currently have diabetes. This is especially true if you don’t have type – 1 diabetes. Type – 2 diabetes can sneak up on a person if they are not careful. But constantly monitoring one’s condition can prevent a person from developing type-2 diabetes if they are at risk of developing it.

Diabetes Symptoms to Watch Out For

There are lot of symptoms associated with both type -1 and type -2 diabetes. While their symptoms are pretty similar, they are not always necessarily the same. Some general symptoms that are common for both type-1 and type -2 diabetes are:

  • Increased hunger
  • Increased thirst
  • Weight loss
  • Frequent urinations
  • Extreme fatigue
  • Blurry vision
  • Sores that do not heal

But, ultimately, type-1 and type -2 diabetes are different form one another. They each have their own symptoms:

Type – 1 diabetes

  • Extreme hunger
  • Blurry vision
  • Increased thirst
  • Tiredness
  • Unintentional weight loss
  • Mood changes

Type -2 diabetes

  • Tiredness
