Here are some Powerful DIY Cough Syrups

Your kitchen is a pharmaceutical shop indeed. There are so many natural ingredients that can be used to treat cough. The next time you proceed to the pharmaceutical store, try our homemade cough syrup recipes. Natural cough Syrups have a great taste, have no side effects, and work wonders. They do not contain any alcohol. However, remember to consult your doctor before you try these recipes.

Homemade cough syrup recipes

  • You will need ¾ cup honey, ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil, and the juice of 3 lemons. Mix everything in a bowl and whisk. Heat on low flame until steam arises. Remove and allow it to cool. Store in an airtight container. This is a great recipe that will help to treat coughs. Lemon and honey are known to soothe throat infections and honey provides relief from cough. Honey also ensures good sleep. Olive oil will reduce the inflammation in the throat.
  • You will need 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, ¼ tsp ground ginger, 1 tbsp honey, 2 tbsp water, and ¼ tsp cayenne pepper. Mix all the ingredients and store in an airtight container. Cinnamon has anti-bacterial and pain-relieving properties. Cayenne pepper is known to treat congestion and sore throat. If you are making this recipe for kids, reduce the quantity of cayenne pepper. It tastes very good and has no side effects.
  • Blend lemon juice with some honey and add a pinch of cayenne pepper. Swallow to relieve cough. Honey will treat sore throat and lemon will reduce the inflammation. Vitamin C increases immune system function.
  • A very simple cough syrup requires 2 tbsp lemon juice mixed with 1 tbsp honey. Heat till gets a little warm. Use as required. If you want to make it stronger, you can add a little bit of grated onion.
