How Buttermilk Makes your Skin and Hair Glow

Whether it is crazy hot summer or winter, dairy products are part of the daily diet in India. We all need “good bacteria” for a healthy stomach. So probiotics are “good” bacteria touted to help maintain digestive health and boost the immune system. One of the best forms of getting a probiotic into our body is buttermilk. However, very fewer people know that this coolant and healthy nutritious drink is also for beneficial skin and hair.

Natural conditioner and anti-dandruff remedy

Buttermilk carries all the protein it had in the milk before it was cultured. To condition your hair and also to rid of dandruff, you can combine buttermilk with lemon juice and apply it on your scalp. Wait for an hour and wash.

The cheapest hair straightener

If you don’t want to spend a lot of money, don’t have time go the parlor and yet want a soft straightened hair, churn the plain curd and prepare buttermilk. Buttermilk, when combined with coconut milk, makes a natural hair straightener. Mix fresh coconut milk and buttermilk in 2:1 ratio. Apply while your hair is dry and let it settle for 2 hours and then wash your hair.

Natural skin cleanser

You can use buttermilk without blending or add little olive oil if you like to. Take a cotton ball and wipe your face. This mixture will clean your skin perfectly by removing all impurities leaving our skin glowing and healthy. You can also use rose water drops with the buttermilk. When you apply, allow at least 15 minutes to work its magic, and wash it off.

For natural firm skin

Buttermilk contains lactic acid which you will find in most beauty products. It not only works a cleanser but when combined with fuller’s earth clay or oatmeal powder works as a fine pack. Apply the mixture and allow it to dry. When you use it regularly, it will lighten your skin tone and reduce any spot and wrinkles.
