Here’s How to Keep Mosquitoes Away During the Rainy Season

Monsoons are, without a doubt, the season of happiness and joy. However, there are several precautions to take during the rainy season in order to keep diseases that spread during the season away. Mosquitoes are responsible for most of the ailments that spread during this season. If you are looking out for some natural methods and practices to keep mosquitoes away during the monsoons, here they are.

Natural Ways to Repel Mosquitoes During The Rains

  • Natural shrubs and plants: Tulsi is one of the most potent plants that can help keep mosquitoes at bay. It is a great idea to plant Tulsi indoors as well as outdoors.
  • Use Garlic: Garlic has a pungent odor and taste. The smell keeps mosquitoes away and you can thus use garlic as a natural mosquito repellant. Boil garlic in water and spray this solution in your surroundings to keep mosquitoes away.
  • Camphor: Camphor has an aromatic scent that will drive mosquitoes away. You can either keep camphor in water or on a heated surface.
  • One of the most important precautions to take is to not leave your windows and doors open. These form the entry points for mosquitoes in this humid weather.
  • Take care to prevent the stagnation of water in and around in your home. When water stands undisturbed on holes, pots, dustbins or unused tires, it can help mosquitoes breed.
  • Mosquito nets: These can help you stay away from the deadly mosquitoes. Spread nets over your bed which will protect you from mosquito bites. Clean these nets regularly.
  • Lavender oil: Mosquitoes quite dislike the aroma of Lavender oil. You can use oil candles or sprinkle some oil on your curtains to keep mosquitoes away. This is a very powerful way to stay bite-free during the monsoon season.
