There are many different fish in the waters of India, each with their own pros and cons. Below is a list of some of the best fish and good reasons to eat them:

Pomfret

Pomfret fish is the key ingredient in pomfret moilee, making it one of the most important fishes out there – pomfret moilee is just that delicious. Pomfret isn’t just flavorful though, it is also quite healthy. Its omega-3 fatty acid content makes it spectacular for the brain development of children. It also is rich in vitamin A, vitamin B1, and vitamin D, which helps in preventing strokes.

Rohu

The rohu fish is an all-around stunner that is enjoyed as a delicacy in Bengal and Bihar. It is actually a species of carp that is known to be tender and juicy when cooked. This fish doesn’t have a lot of fat, but is protein rich and can be eaten many different ways; fry it, simmer it, or eat its eggs in a nice pakora.

The best hilsa is in Bangladesh. It is the tastiest and healthiest version by far. Hilsa is filled with vital nutrients and vitamins, especially omega-3 fatty acids. It tastes best when made into sorshe illish.

Basa is one of the species of fish India is best known for. This fish is eaten all around the world. It is prized for its versatility as it doesn’t have bones and can therefore be prepared in many different ways. It also has a decent amount of fat and is generally low in contaminants.
