5 Different Sugar Scrubs for Clear Skin

There is a lot of concern and speculation about using sugar. Most of the fear is valid because too much sugar is not good for your teeth or health in general. Sugar is after all a natures gift. When you use externally, it is a wonderful ingredient for skin care. It is also affordable and won’t cause any harmful effect on skin. Here’s how you can use sugar to keep your skin clear and healthy.

1. Sugar and honey

You will need either brown or white sugar. Combine it with honey and make it into a thick paste. If you have dry skin, you can also add a few drops of olive oil to the mixture. Gently massage it for 10 – 15 minutes. You can also leave it for another ten minutes.

2. Sugar and banana

This combination helps in maintaining clear and hydrated skin. Banana contains vitamins A, B6, C and also potassium. You have to choose a ripe fruit. Mash the banana using a wooden spatula and add sugar and mush them until the mixture is smooth. You can also store this scrub in the refrigerator for two weeks for using later.

3. Sugar and lemon

This undiluted lemonade base consists of two magical ingredients. Sugar, when combined lemon not only exfoliates the skin but also helps in fighting acne and dark pigments. Mix one lemon’s juice in a cup of sugar, white or brown, you can also add olive oil drops to this mixture.

4. Sugar and oatmeal

Oatmeal is highly nutritious for our body and also beneficial for skin. Mix equal amount of sugar and oatmeal in a bowl, and blend it first. Apply the paste on wet face and gently scrub it. Leave it for at least 15 minutes before washing it off.

5. Sugar and peppermint leaves

Peppermint is a wonder herb known for its anti-inflammatory properties. This scrub is suitable for all skin types. However, if you have trouble with acne or have oily skin, this is a perfect scrub to keep your skin healthy and clear. Blend the leaves along with sugar and add few drops of olive oil. You can replace leaves with peppermint essential oil too for best effects.
