White Chutney

White chutney is one of the most popular and widely enjoyed chutney. The white color of the chutney is because of the coconut used in making it.

A white coconut chutney as many call it is a perfect side dish to dosa and it makes eating dosa more interesting and flavorful. This flavor comes from the various ingredients that are added to the chutney and the rich coconut taste and flavor we get from it. Ingredients

grated coconut: 3/4 cup

gram dal (roasted): 1/4 cup

small green chili: 1

Small piece of ginger

salt as needed

Water as needed

oil: 2 tsp

black mustard seeds: 1/4 tsp

curry leaves: 12

thinly sliced shallots: 2

red chilies, chopped: 2

How To Make White Chutney

  1. Place the coconut, roasted gram, green chili, ginger, salt, and water into a grinder and grind until very smooth.
  2. Heat oil in a steel plan andadd the mustard seeds.
  3. Add the curry leaves, shallots, and red chilies after mustard seeds pop.
  4. Sauté until shallots are golden brown.
  5. Turn off the heat.
  6. Pour the ground chutney into the pan and mix well until heated through.

Tip:

Your white chutney can be served immediately. Or, store in the refrigerator so the kids can have immediately they return from school or any time of the day.

Trivia

  1. Using coconut oil for cooking is good for heart health. It has a high proportion of a fat that is less likely to be stored in the body as fat.
