Surf and turf

Surf and turf

The surf and turf is a pretty light meal on hot days and can be cooked in as little as 30 minutes if you give enough prep time. It is delicious, gets tastier with fresher ingredients and packed with nutrients. Whether you’re someone who likes to work out in the gym or simply want to get a lean body, the surf and turf can easily fulfill those requirements. It’s a dish which the whole family would enjoy and isn’t expensive to put together.

Health benefits

Rarely do you get a source of protein which is both low fat and low calorie. Shrimps are packed with proteins and other minerals such as vitamins A and E, phosphorous, potassium and calcium. This makes them good for the growth of tissue, bone growth and supports the structure of enamel in place.

Prawns are also an excellent source of unsaturated fat which make up for the majority of their fat content. They don’t place stress on blood vessels and improve cholesterol levels unlike saturated fats which risk clotting blood.

Trivia

  • There are over 2000 different species of shrimps spread all over the world. The ones which we usually consume are known as Gulf White Shrimp, Gulf Brown Shrimp and Gulf Pink Shrimp.
  • They vary in size as well; some can be as small as about ½ an inch in length while other species can grow to be as tall as 12 inches.

Shrimps create a loud noise when they snap their pincers together, which is higher in magnitude than other sources of marine noise.
