Ingredients

olive oil: 2 tbsp

large onion (sliced): 1

boneless pork chops: 4

store bought pasta sauce: 1 (28 ounce) jar

diced tomatoes: 1 (28 ounce) can

large green bell pepper (seeded and sliced into strips): 1

packet of fresh mushrooms (sliced): 1 (8 ounce)

large cloves of garlic (minced): 2

dried basil: 1/2 tsp

Italian seasoning: 1 tsp

dry white wine: 1/2 cup

slices of mozzarella cheese: 4

How To Make Slow Cooker Pork Cacciatore

  1. Wash the pork chops thoroughly and pat dry thoroughly with a paper towel.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium high heat; add pork chops in batched and brown them on each side.
  3. Transfer the browned pork chops to a slow cooker or the pot of a crock pot.
  4. In the same skillet, heat olive oil over a medium high heat. Add onions to the oil and fry until softened and browned. Remember to only let them caramelize for a few minutes and burn them.
  5. Add bell peppers and mushrooms to the skillet and sauté until they are soft but haven’t lose their color.
  6. Add pasta sauce, dice tomatoes and dry white wine in the skillet; keep stirring to mix everything together.
  7. Season the sauce with basil, garlic and Italian seasoning, stir everything together.
  8. Pour the sauce to the slow cooker or crock pot, submerging the pork chops. Cover with lid and cook it on a low setting for 7-8 hours or until the meat is tender and juicy.
  9. When ready to serve, add slice of mozzarella on each pork chop while still hot and drizzle a ladleful of the sauce over it.

Note: You can serve the Cacciatore over a bed of rice or spaghetti.
