Salisbury steak is a classic American recipe prepared with a few on hand ingredients and beef. The result is a scrumptious meal that can be prepared in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

french onion soup condensed: 1 can

Ground Beef: 1 1/2 lbs

breadcrumbs: 1/2 cup

ground black pepper: 1/4 tsp

egg: 1

ketchup: 1/4 cup

cup of water: 1/4

all-purpose flour: 1 tbsp

Worcestershire sauce: 1 tbsp

mustard powder: 1/2 tsp

How To Make Salisbury Steak

  1. Mix 1/3 cup of French onion soup with the ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, salt and black pepper in a large bowl. Make 6 oval patties from the mix.
  2. Brown both sides of the patties in a skillet over medium heat. Remove the excess fat.
  3. Mix the flour and remaining soup until you get a smooth texture. Now mix in the ketchup, water, mustard powder and Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Pour over the beef patties in the skillet.
  5. Cook, covered on high heat for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Allow the mixture to simmer and cook until gravy thickens.
  7. Serve over peas and mashed potatoes.
  8. Variation: You may add sliced onions and mushroom to the gravy if desired.
