Ingredients
french onion soup condensed: 1 can
Ground Beef: 1 1/2 lbs
breadcrumbs: 1/2 cup
ground black pepper: 1/4 tsp
egg: 1
ketchup: 1/4 cup
cup of water: 1/4
all-purpose flour: 1 tbsp
Worcestershire sauce: 1 tbsp
mustard powder: 1/2 tsp
How To Make Salisbury Steak
- Mix 1/3 cup of French onion soup with the ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, salt and black pepper in a large bowl. Make 6 oval patties from the mix.
- Brown both sides of the patties in a skillet over medium heat. Remove the excess fat.
- Mix the flour and remaining soup until you get a smooth texture. Now mix in the ketchup, water, mustard powder and Worcestershire sauce.
- Pour over the beef patties in the skillet.
- Cook, covered on high heat for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Allow the mixture to simmer and cook until gravy thickens.
- Serve over peas and mashed potatoes.
- Variation: You may add sliced onions and mushroom to the gravy if desired.
