Hence ragi is great for weight loss.  It contains high amount of calcium and increases bone health and also prevents bone erosion in adults. Ragi lowers cholesterol considerably by preventing the blockage of blood vessels thus even reducing the risk of stroke and other heart diseases.

Ghee has a high smoke point and is packed with fat-soluble vitamins. It’s free of lactose and casein and contains conjugated linoleic acid. Ghee is rich in butyrate and has a strong, buttery flavor. Ghee strengthens your bones and promotes healthy weight loss.

Ingredients

ragi (organic ragi is recommended): ½ cup

ghee: 4 tbsp

sugar: ¼ cup

hot milk: 1 cup

cardamom powder: ¼ tsp

almonds finely chopped: 7

pistachios finely chopped: 7

How To Make Ragi Halwa

  • Heat the pan and add ghee.
  • Add the ragi and keep stirring for five minutes.
  • As the mixture starts bubbling, add the sugar.
  • Stir well. Add the hot milk to the mixture and stir continuously so that no lumps are formed.
  • As the mixture thickens, sprinkle the cardamom powder and stir well.
  • Your halwa is ready.
  • Transfer the halwa to a casserole to maintain the warmth.
  • Garnish the halwa with almonds and pistachios and serve hot!

Trivia

  • It takes almost 21 pounds of milk to make one pound of butter.
  • Ragi’s plant can withstand severe drought and heavy rainfalls as well!
