Ingredients

yellow onion: 1

beaten egg: 1

large potatoes: 4

all purpose flour or maida: 2 tbsp

oil

black pepper - powdered

salt to taste

How To Make Potato Pancakes

  • Finely grate all the potatoes and onions in a large bowl and drain all the excess liquid.
  • Add salt, pepper and beaten egg and mix well.
  • Add the all-purpose flour and make a thick mixture.
  • Preheat the oven and add oil to the skillet before adding the potato mixture.
  • Spread potato mixture in round shapes on the skillet with at least ½ inch of thickness.
  • Fry until both the sides turn brown. Keep turning so that it doesn’t burn.
  • Laden the pancakes on a paper towel and serve warm alongside ketchup or mint chutney.

  • Interestingly a potato is a relative of the tomato. Potato is the 4th most important crop in the world after corn, rice, and wheat. The French had believed that potatoes could result in leprosy until the late 18th century!
