Jaljeera, is a popular homemade Indian beverage. It gains its flavored from a unique spice mix called jal-jeera powder. “Jal” translates to water and “jeera” translates to cumin in Hindi. The beverage is essentially the combination of lemonade and jaljeera powder. Jaljeera powder is a blend of cumin, mint, black pepper, salt, powdered fruit, ginger, and chili. tbsp cumin seeds--roasted: 2

tsp amchur powder: 1

small lemon--sliced: 1

tbsp mint leaves--fresh: 2

tsp coriander leaves--fresh: 1/2

tbsp lemon juice: 1

ice cubes

lb of soda: 1/2

salt to taste

How To Make Jal jeera

  1. Pound cumin seeds with a pestle.
  2. Grind mint and coriander with water and salt to make a paste.
  3. Add lemon juice. Mix very well.
  4. Place some ice cubes in 2 glasses, divide the 2 mixtures equally into 2 glasses, and fill the glasses with soda
  5. Serve in an insulated tumbler glass and enjoy!

Cumin seeds are actually the small dried fruits of the Cuminum plant.
