Garlic Prawns

Garlic prawns are a pretty fun way to get your garlic fix. The bite-sized nature of the prawns stops you rom over indulging on the garlic to the benefit of all the people around you. These prawns make great appetizers and snack, especially when paired with a cool beverage. Once you master the marinade for these prawns you can proceed to vary the way you prepare them. You can grill them, stir fry them, fry them, or even bake them.

Ingredients

tbsp vegetable oil: 2

kg prawns – deveined: 1

tbsp garlic – minced or crushed: 1

tbsp fresh ginger – finely chopped or grated: 2

red chilli – chopped: 1

cup chicken stock: 1

tbsp light soy sauce: 2

spring onions: 4

tsp corn flour: 1

tbsp water: 1

cup basil leaves: 1/8

cup oregano leaves: 1/8

Steamed rice to serve

How To Make Garlic Prawns

  1. Heat a wok to very hot and add vegetable oil.
  2. Blend water and corn flour.
  3. Add the prawns, garlic, ginger, and chilli.
    1. Stir-fry until the prawns change color.
    2. Remove with slotted spoon and set to one side.
    3. Add the stock and bring to a boil.
    4. Add the soy sauce and the blended corn flour/water mixture.
    5. Stir until the mixture thickens.
  4. Add the spring onions and the prawns and heat through.
  5. Fold through the herbs.
  6. Serve and enjoy! 

Trivia

Prawns prefer warm waters but have been found in the Northern Hemisphere.
