Ingredients

large potatoes: 1kg

unsalted butter: 30g

extra virgin olive oil: 1 tbsp

garlic cloves, peeled and halved: 8 large

whole milk: 2 tbsp

How To Make Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  1. Peel and cut each potato in half or quarter.
  2. In a large saucepan pour cold water and put the potatoes.
  3. Cover and bring to the boil.
  4. Remove the lid and simmer for 20 minutes until tender.
  5. Drain the potatoes, allow it to dry.
  6. Melt the butter and oil together in low heat with the garlic.
  7. When the potatoes are steamed dry, remove the garlic with a spoon.
  8. Using a masher or a spatula, mash the potatoes until smooth.
  9. Stir the garlic butter but save a little to serve.
  10. Season the mashed potatoes with a pinch of sea salt and black pepper and stir in the milk.
  11. Sprinkle with the remaining garlic butter and season to taste.
