Easy Chicken Nuggets

These easy chicken nuggets are prepared by processing boneless chicken with oats and various seasonings, breaded with breadcrumbs and baked to a crisp perfection. With this easy and quick recipe you can make delicious nuggets for your family and avoid going to get unhealthy ones at fast food restaurants.

Ingredients

boneless and skinless chicken breast (cut into chunks): 1 lb

old fashioned oats (also known as 5 minute oats): 1/4 cup

panko breadcrumbs: 3/4 cup

dried parsley: 1/4 tsp

Garlic powder: 1/2 tsp

onion powder: 1/4 tsp

Kosher salt: 1/2 tsp

grated parmesan cheese: 1 tbsp

How To Make Easy Chicken Nuggets

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 375 degree F, or 190 degree C.
  2. Add the bread crumbs and parmesan cheese to a large plate, mix them together and keep aside.
  3. Add boneless chicken chunks, oats, parsley, salt, onion powder and garlic powder in a food processor and pulse until the chicken is finely chopped and everything is combined well.
  4. Transfer the chicken mixture to a clean bowl.
  5. Moisten your hands with water and take about 1 tbsp of chicken mixture in your hands and flatten it into a nugget shape.
  6. Then gently place the nuggets on to the breadcrumbs and coat each side.
  7. Place the nuggets on a metal cooling rack and place the rack on a foil lined baking sheet.
  8. Spray the nuggets with cooking spray lightly and put them in the oven. Bake for 15 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
  9. Serve immediately with condiments of your choice.

Note: If you would like to freeze the nuggets then after step 6 transfer the nuggets on a baking sheet and place the sheet in the freezer for 1-2 hours. Then remove the nuggets from the tray and place them in a zip lock bag for later use for up to 3 months. When you are ready to use them, thaw them and follow instructions on step 7 and 8.

  • Did you know that chicken nuggets were originally called Chicken Crispies? They were invented by a food science professor Robert C Baker, who taught at Cornell University. He invented the dish as part of a project and published it as unpatented academic work.

The largest chicken nugget ever made and cooked was 3 .3 feet in length and weighed more than 50 pounds. It was prepared by the chicken produces Empire Kosher Poultry in 2013.
