Ingredients

Paneer prepared with 4 cups or 1 liter of whole milk

cups of sugar: 2

cups of water: 5

tbsp sliced pistachios: 1

tbsp coconut – finely shredded: 2

cups whole milk: 2

tbsp sugar: 2

tsp cardamom powder: 1/8

How To Make Chum Chum

  1. Prepare and drain paneer.
  2. Place the drained paneer on a dry, clean surface.
  3. Knead for 3 to 4 minutes until a you get a smooth dough.

Note: If the paneer is too crumbly, add a teaspoon of water.

  1. Divide the paneer dough into 8 equal parts and roll each one into a smooth oval-shaped ball.

Syrup:

  1. Bring 5 cups of water to a boil in a wide saucepan.
  2. Add sugar and stir to dissolve completely.

Note: Use a large pan as the paneer balls will double in volume while cooking in the syrup.

  1. Add the paneer balls to the syrup and bring it back to a boil.
    1. Turn down the heat to medium and cover the pot.
    2. Cook for 10 minutes.
    1. Turn the chum chums over and cook for another 15 minutes.
  2. Check to see if the chum chums appear firm but sponge-like with little holes on the surface.
  3. Turn off the heat and let sit for 10 more minutes.
  4. Remove the chum chums from the syrup.
  5. Serve chilled and enjoy!
