It has a unique Mandarin/Szechuan flavor to tangle your taste buds. If you like a bit of tartness in your dish, then this recipe if for you to keep. With vinegar and sugar bringing in both sweet and tanginess to the chicken, the spices make it hot together making the dish viciously delicious. You can tweak the recipe a bit to include fresh ingredients which will bring in a whole new flavor to the dish.

Ingredients

tsp vegetable oil: 2

cup distilled white vinegar: 1/2

boneless, skinless chicken breast halves -cut into 1-inch pieces: 4

cup soy sauce: 1/2

cup white sugar: 1

tbsp red pepper flakes: 1

tbsp onion powder: 1

tbsp garlic powder: 2

tsp ginger - ground: 1/2

cup green peas - frozen: 1

oz packaged button mushrooms -sliced: 8

chopped green onions: 3

tbsp cold water: 2

tsp cornstarch: 3

How To Make Chicken Vicious

  • Place a large skillet on high flame and oil. Add chicken pieces and fry while stirring continuously. Let them turn brown.
  • Add vinegar, sugar, and soy sauce, keep stirring to dissolve the sugar.
  • Add the seasoning of red pepper flakes, onion powder, garlic, and ginger.
  • Simmer the flame, cover, and cook for 15 minutes.
  • Taste the sauce and add the seasonings according to taste.
  • The sauce should taste sweet. Add vinegar if it is too sweet and sugar if it is tart.
  • Once the sauce is done, add in the mushrooms, green onions, and peas.
  • Cook over low heat for 5 minutes. The mushrooms will shrink in size.
  • Add cornstarch mixed with water and add it to the sauce, stirring continuously.
  • Continue cooking until the sauce is thick.
