Ingredients

skinless, boneless chicken—choppedinto small pieces: 1 kg

tomato--finely chopped: 1

onions: 4

pieces ginger--minced: 2

green chilis--minced: 3

cloves garlic--finely chopped: 8-10

chilli powder: 1 tbsp

Turmeric powder: ¼ tsp

garam masala powder: 1 tsp

roasted cumin powder: 1 tsp

cashew paste: 1½

tablespoon tomato ketchup: 3

kasoori methi powder: ¾ tsp

Salt as required

oil: 2 tbsp

water: ½ cup

Small handful of cilantro

How To Make Chicken Bharta

  1. Sauté garlic and 2 chopped onions until onions turn translucent. Add green chilies and tomatoes and let cook.
  2. Set aside to cool and blend into a fine puree.
  3. Sauté the remaining 2 onions, turmeric powder, salt, and chicken pieces for 2-3 minutes and cover the pan to let the chicken swe Remove the lid and continue cooking until all the water evaporates and the chicken begins to turn brownish.
  4. Add chilli powder, garam masala, roasted cumin powder, and kasoori methi powder. Add tomato ketchup and turn the heat to medium flame and fry 2 - 3 minutes.
  5. Add cashew paste andonion-tomato puree. Mix everything well. Cook for 3 minutes.
  6. Turn of the heat and garnish coriander leaves.
