Cheddar Garlic Grits With Fried Eggs

This meal is a Southern Classic but it is often mistaken for high-calorie food. You can replace milk with water and avoid butter if you are conscious about weight gain. This wholesome breakfast can supply 10% of the body’s daily calcium intake.

Ingredients

water: 2 cups

grated cheddar: 1/4 cup

cooking grits: 1/2 cups

Eggs: 4

garlic: 4

chopped chives: 1 tbsp

Salt and pepper to taste

How To Make Cheddar Garlic Grits With Fried Eggs

  1. Boil the water in a small saucepan. Turn down the flame to medium.
  2. Add the grits and garlic, and cover. Stir often for 5-7 minutes until the grits have thickened.
  3. Remove from the heat, add the cheddar and chives, salt and pepper to your taste. Set it aside.
  4. While the grits are cooking, heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Spray with non-stick cooking spray or add butter to the pan.
  5. Crack the eggs into the pan and cook over medium flame.
  6. Carefully flip the egg over and continue cooking until the yolk has cooked.
  7. Pour the grits into two shallow bowls.
  8. Top each bowl with two eggs add more salt and pepper.
