Cauliflower 65

Cauliflower 65 recipe is usually served as a starter or snack and is basically made by deep-frying cauliflower florets after coating them in a spicy batter. Cauliflower is known in India as gobi and as such, the dish is called gobi 65.

Cauliflower 65 dish is aromatic and tasty because of the chillies, curry leaves and other spices it is made with. There are many varieties for this dish and this particular recipe is incidentally great for vegans!

Gobi 65 is extremely popular among kids, and can be made in a jiffy!

Ingredients

Corn flour: 3 tbsp

all purpose flour/ maida/ plain flour: 3 tbsp

ginger--finely chopped: 1 tbsp

pepper – crushed: ½ tsp

florets cauliflower (gobi): 15

Garam masala: ½ tsp

kashmiri chilli powder – red: 1 tsp

oil: 2 tsp

salt to taste

curry leaves – roughly chopped: 10

water or as needed: ½ cup

Oil for deep-frying

cumin seeds: 1 tsp

oil: 2 tsp

green chilli – sliced: 2

garlic cloves--finely chopped: 2

curry leaves: 7

kashmiri chilli powder – red: ¾ teaspoon

yogurt/ curd: ¼ cup

Garam masala: ¼ tsp

How To Make Cauliflower 65

  1. Blanch cauliflower florets, drain and set aside.
  2. In a bowl, combine corn flour and maida. Add salt, ginger, pepper, chopped curry leaves, garam masala, chilli powder and oil and crumble. Add water to make a smooth batter.
  3. Dip cauliflower florets into the batter to completely coat.
  4. Deep-fry the coated cauliflower florets. Occasionally stir until they turn crisp and golden brown.
  5. Place in paper towels to drain excess oil.
  6. Meanwhile, in a pan, heat oil that will be used for tempering.
  7. Splutter cumin seeds, curry leaves, garlic, and green chilli. Sauté for a minute.
  8. Add garam masala, chilli powder and yogurt. Turn the heat to low and stir till the yoghurt is completely absorbed. Transfer the mixture over fried cauliflower.
  9. Garnish with onion rings and enjoy!
