Basic Crepe

Basic Crepe

A good Sunday morning breakfast would call for crepes lathered and layered with thick Nutella and topped with your favorite seasonal fruits. Although, most people tend to like pancakes more than crepes, we ensure that this recipe will allow you to make the best crepes that everyone will keep wanting more. The best part about eating crepes is that there are no necessary condiments or toppings that MUST be on them, if you want to keep it simple, you can add whipped cream, but if you want an extravagant experience, then feel free to add caramel sauce, Nutella, strawberries, and the list goes on. When it comes to this ‘basic’ breakfast, you can personalize it however you want.

Health Benefits

Although, there are no such great health benefits of eating crepes, they can allow you to feel more energized throughout the day while brightening your mood. You can add bananas to your crepe for iron and calcium, or you could add strawberries to gain their anti-oxidant properties. Either way, crepes should not be eaten everyday otherwise they could be unhealthy.

Ingredients

cup of all-purpose flour: 1

Eggs: 2

cup of milk: 1/2

cup of water: 1/2

teaspoon of salt: 1/4

tablespoons of butter, melted: 2

any additional toppings or spreads

How To Make Basic Crepe

  1. In a large bowl, start whisking your eggs and flour together. Once it has mixed well, start adding milk and water, in a slow and steady stream, while you are stirring continuously. Then, you can add the salt and butter, and beat it until smooth.
  2. On medium high heat, place a griddle or frying pan and lightly oil it. Scoop or pour the batter onto the griddle. Make sure you are using only ¼ cup for each crepe. Start tilting the pain in circular motions so there is batter covering the entire surface of the griddle.
  3. Let the crepe cook for 2 minutes, until the bottom side has lightly browned. Loosen the edges with a spatula, turn it over, and cook the other side.
  4. Serve your crepes hot and add your favorite toppings. You can also stack the crepes up like a cake by adding layers of whipped cream, Nutella, or caramel sauce in every layer.
