Aloo Tikki

Aloo tikki is a north Indian snack that can be found in every food stall in the region. Boiled mashed potatoes are mixed with lots of spices and peas, formed into patties, then fried. You can make burgers and chole masala with the same aloo tikki mixture. You can vary the spices and ingredients for aloo tikki.

You can serve aloo tikki with some sauces including green chutney.

Ingredients

medium potatoes, peeled and cubed: 3

cup green peas: 3/4

green chilies--chopped: 3

Red chili Powder: 1 tsp

chaat masala: 2 tsp

lemon Juice: 2 tsp

oil: 2 tbsp

salt to taste

How To Make Aloo Tikki

  1. Boil potatoes with water to cover until tender, adding the peas during the last 3 minutes of cooking. Drain.
  2. Mash potatoes with peas in a bowl.
  3. Add green chilies, red chili powder, chaat masala, lemon juice and salt and mix well.
  4. Form mixture into patties.
  5. Now you can heat a pan and add the oil.
  6. Fry the patties on both sides until they become brown in color. Drain on paper towels.
