Yogurt for Men’s Health

For the last couple of decades, yogurt and its many benefits have been targeted primarily at women. Commercials, billboards, even packaging images have attempted to sell yogurt as a great food that is most suitable for women and children. But recent years have seen a refocusing in yogurt’s target audience from women and children to men. This is primarily because yogurt has everything a physically active man needs in his diet. Read on to learn about the health benefits that yogurt has to offer men.

Improved Digestion

The best thing about yogurt is its probiotic content. Probiotics have the ability to promote digestive health. Several of the probiotic bacteria strains found in yogurt play a key role in preventing digestive issues, including diarrhea, indigestion, Chrohn’s disease, and IBS. When you include yogurt in your diet, you can eat that extra serving of meat without having to worry about digestion issues.

Weight Management

Yogurt is a great way for obese men to lose weight. A 2008 study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that yogurt consumption was inversely associated with weight gain. This same connection with women and weight gain was not found to be true.

Sexual Health

Studies done on male mice have shown that yogurt may have sexual benefits for men. The fertility benefits found in the yogurt are most likely due to the probiotic bacteria contained in yogurt.

Build Muscle

The best benefit for men (as far as the majority of men are concerned) has to do with yogurt’s protein content. Yogurt is a rich source of high-quality, muscle building protein. That’s right, a nice cup of yogurt is exactly what you want to eat after a heavy gym session.
