Vitamin B12 Deficiency Can Result in Anemia – Here are Foods that Are Loaded with Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is a very important water-soluble vitamin that is known as cobalamin. It plays a crucial role in red blood cell production. Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to a reduction in your red blood cell count and result in anemia. It can even affect your nervous system if left untreated.

It can be hard to diagnose a vitamin B12 deficiency without the help of a doctor; it is often mistaken for a folate deficiency which is rarer. Some of the more common B12 deficiencies are fatigue, numbness, poor balance, breathlessness, pale or jaundiced skin, mouth ulcers, prickly sensations on your skin, moodiness, and impaired vision. If you are suffering from a multitude of these symptoms you should consider altering your diet. Vitamin B12 is found most abundantly in animal foods, so a diet change can be just thing you need. Below are some naturally rich vitamin B12 foods.

Eggs

Eggs are naturally great sources of vitamin B12. One egg contains 15% of the recommended daily value of vitamin B12.

Cheese

Milk and dairy products like cheese aren’t the highest sources of vitamin B12 when compared to certain other actual animal products. But studies have shown that your body actually absorbs the vitamin B12 inside dairy products more efficiently than meat.

Chicken

Poultry like chicken is a natural source of vitamin B12 that is extremely prevalent. Most cultures have access to chicken and entire cooking methods dedicated to making the protein deliciously palatable.

Animal Liver and Kidneys

Organ meats are one of the best sources for vitamin B12, hands down. The liver and kidneys of lamb and cow are particularly powerful sources. A 100-gram serving of lamb liver contains 1500% of your recommended daily vitamin B12 intake.
