Top 5 Superfoods That Are Heart Healthy!

Superfoods have been all the rage for some time now. We know they are great for our health and fighting off diseases like cancer, but now we know that they can also help with your heart health. Below are some of the best superfoods for keeping your heart healthy:

Chia Seeds
Chia seeds have the most omega-3 fatty acids available in any plant-based food. This makes it a top tier food for keeping your heart healthy and working properly. Omega-3 fatty acids help to lower your LDL cholesterol by reducing the number of triglycerides in the blood. Chia seeds also help to lower the risk of obtaining abnormal heart rhythms. All of this is in addition to the fact that chia seeds have antioxidants, calcium, magnesium, and soluble fiber which all help your heart. Add a handful of chia seeds to the water in your water bottle and keep sipping!

Green Tea
Green tea is a superfood – super drink might be more accurate – that is packed with antioxidants known as polyphenols and catechins. These two antioxidants work to prevent cellular damage and shield your heart from obtaining disease. This is hands down the best tea for your heart. It stands above all others.

Quinoa
Quinoa is a superfood that is gluten free, whole grain, and filled with vitamins and minerals. It also has high protein content, everything your heart needs to stay healthy. Quinoa contains the amino acid, lysine which helps with tissue growth and repair and can keep your heart working strong.

Nuts
Nuts are filled with healthy fats, the monosaturated kind. There are so many different varieties: walnuts, almonds, cashews, pecans, Brazil nuts, etc. And they are all good for your heart. They contain omega-3 fatty acids which can prevent the occurrence of hazardous heart rhythms and reduce the risk of developing blood clots.

Dark Chocolate

Dessert can now work for you in a good way – at least this one dessert. Dark chocolate has flavonoids which work to reduce inflammation and improve blood circulation. This keeps your heart working strong and pumping away effectively.
