Tips for Newborn Baby Care in Summers

Summers are increasingly getting harsher all across the planet. With the rising temperatures, it is becoming difficult to cope up with the scorching climes. If it is this difficult for you, imagine how it must be for your baby.

It is extremely important to keep the baby cool during the harsh months of summer. Here are some remedies that will keep your baby comfortable in the summer months. Remember to always consult your doctor before you follow any of these.

Newborn baby care remedies

  • Bathing the baby: It is essential to keep in mind that the water should neither be too cold nor too hot. It could be a little warm or at room temperature for the newborn baby. Check the temperature by dipping your elbow into the water. Check with your doctor first before bathing your baby.
  • Oil massage will keep the skin of the baby cool and hydrated during the summer months. Make sure that the oil suits the baby’s skin and is washed off when you bathe the baby as oil can clog the pores. Oil massages stimulate blood circulation and will ensure that the baby enjoys a peaceful sleep post bathing.
  • It is essential to keep the baby well hydrated. If the mother is breastfeeding, the newborn baby will get enough water from the breastmilk. Consult your doctor who will be the best judge to guide you when it comes to the food that your baby can consume during the summer months.
  • Once your doctor approves giving your baby water, the water that is given to him/her should be boiled and hygienic.
  • Heat rashes are very common in babies during the summer months. Experts suggest keeping the area dry and ensuring that the baby wears loose-fitting clothes, preferably soft cotton.
  • It is essential to protect the baby from sunburn. A little cap will prevent the baby from getting exposed to the harmful rays of the sun.
