These Essential Oils Could Replace the Chemical Cleaning Liquids in Your Home!

Essential oils aren’t just great for their amazing scents or health benefits, they also serve as great bases for cleaning solutions. This is because the oils possess antimicrobial properties. The potency of the oils can kill bacteria, fungi, and viruses. Below are some great cleaner recipes you can make using essential oils.

All-Purpose Cleaner with Lemon

Ingredients

  • 2 cups white vinegar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tsp natural dish soap (NOT castile soap)
  • 30 drops lemon essential oil
  • 20 drops melaleuca essential oil

Procedure

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a quart-sized spray bottle.
  2. Shake to combine.
  3. Spray and wipe on infected and dirty surfaces.

Fresh Mint Window & Mirror Cleaner

Ingredients

  • 3 cups distilled water
  • 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol or vodka
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 20 drops peppermint or spearmint essential oil

Procedure

  1. Combine all ingredients in a quart-sized spray bottle.
  2. Shake to combine.
  3. Spray on reflective surfaces like, mirrors, stainless steel, or windows.
  4. Wipe off surface with paper towels or old newspaper to ensure streak-free shine.

Simple Citrus Soft Scrub

Ingredients

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup liquid castile soap
  • 10 drops lemon essential oil
  • 10 drops lime essential oil
  • 10 drops wild orange essential oil

Procedure

  1. Form a paste by mixing all the ingredients together.
  2. Apply the cleaner using a rag or sponge.
  3. Rinse with clean water.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1/3 cup liquid dishwashing soap
  • 1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide
  • 30 drops eucalyptus essential oil
  • 3/4 cup water

Procedure

  • Mix together in a squeeze-type bottle.
  • Squirt solution into toilet.
  • Scrub toilet and let stand for 20 minutes.

Daily Shower Spray

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups water
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol
  • 1 tsp natural liquid dish soap (not castile soap)
  • 15 drops lime essential oil
  • 15 drops melaleuca (tea tree) essential oil

Procedure

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a quart-sized spray bottle.
  2. Spray daily on shower door and walls after showering to prevent buildup.
