The Myriad Health Benefits of Mangoes

Mangoes are the absolute king of all fruits. Sometimes they’re sweet; sometimes they’re tart.  Sometimes they’re juicy; sometimes they’re dry. They’re always healthy and nutritious though. You will never do yourself a disservice choosing to eat some mangoes in the summer. At the very least you will feel refreshed and satisfied, while staying healthy.

This royal fruit has all types of essential nutrients and minerals, making it a nutrient powerhouse. Consuming a single mango will provide your body with dietary fiber, vitamin B6, vitamin A, and especially vitamin C (so much vitamin C). You will also find magnesium, potassium, and copper amongst some other minerals. Mangoes also house some rather unique compounds that can be difficult to come across, such as, astragalin, beta-carotene, and quercetin. It has all of these nutrients while being low in sodium, low in cholesterol, and low in saturated fat. All of these vitamins and minerals lead to some fantastic health benefits that will make you want to eat them every chance you get.

The Health Benefits of Mangoes

Prevent Cancer

Mangoes are rich in pectin, a soluble dietary fiber that helps to lower your cholesterol levels. The pectin content in mangoes also helps to prevent prostate cancer and sets it back at all stages. It has also been shown to lower your risk of developing gastrointestinal tract.

Aid in Digestion

Mangoes have a sizable amount of good digestive enzymes that naturally improve your digestion. It has bioactive ingredients, such as, terpenes, esters, and aldehydes that enhance your appetite and help you digest foods properly.

Cure Anemia

Mangoes stand apart from a lot of other fruits because they are rich in iron. This is great for people who are prone to anemia but don’t want to eat meat, like vegetarians and vegans. The iron content in mango is also good for expecting mothers who sometimes have to take iron supplements.
