Sore Eyes During Winter? Here are Some Natural Ways to Ease Discomfort!

Winter is no longer coming, it is here. Sore eyes are a standard component of winter season. Colds, and dust staying inside irritate eyes and can be a true hassle. Thankfully, there are some great home remedies that you can use to alleviate sore eyes.

Cucumber For Sore Eyes

Ingredients

  • 2 cucumber slices
  • Cold water

Procedure

  1. Soak the cucumber slices in cold water for a couple of minutes.
  2. Apply the cucumber slices to your eyes for 10 minutes.

Why This Works

Cucumbers have a built in cooling effect that can soothe your body. This effect can also apply to our eyes and heal the soreness and irritation. The cucumber slices will also help to get rid of dark circles and puffy eyes as well.

Aloe Vera Gel For Sore Eyes

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp aloe vera gel
  • 1-2 tbsps cold water
  • 2 cotton balls

Procedure

  1. Dilute the fresh aloe vera gel with cold water.
  2. Soak the cotton balls in the aloe vera solution and apply them to your eyelids for 10 minutes.

Aloe vera has many inbuilt healing properties. It has the ability to soothe and relax your eyes. This wonderful plant also contains antimicrobial compounds and antioxidants that can treat the root the soreness plaguing your eyes.

Castor Oil For Sore Eyes

Ingredients

  • Organic and pure castor oil
  • A dropper

Procedure

  1. Administer a drop of castor oil to each eye using a clean eye dropper.
  2. Leave the oil overnight.

Why This Works

Castor oil is a common ingredient in eye drop brands. It has a natural soothing component that can help to reduce eye irritation. This is largely due to the anti-inflammatory properties. Castor oil also has antimicrobial abilities that actually scrub away the infections that cause eye irritations in the first place.
