Keep Breast Cancer at Bay with These Fiber-Rich Foods

Noncommunicable diseases are those that are caused due to the adoption of an unhealthy lifestyle. Breast cancer is one of the noncommunicable diseases the risk of which can be reduced through the adoption of a healthy lifestyle. The type of food we consume has an important bearing on our health and the consumption of the right types of food can help reduce the risk of breast cancer.

Foods to avoid

Experts recommend staying away from food that has been roasted at a high temperature. They also warn against the consumption of processed food. These foods are known to have carcinogens which can increase the risk of developing breast cancer.

The consumption of roasted meat should be avoided too.

What to eat

It is highly recommended to consume citrus fruits which are known to help fight cancer. It is also important to manage your weight. You should also consume foods that have phytochemicals. Fruits and vegetables are particularly ideal. Berries, carrots, broccoli, Whole grains, and tomatoes have plenty of phytochemicals and fiber which help keep breast cancer at bay. Yellow colored fruits such as oranges are also particularly great at helping reduce the risk of breast cancer since they have lots of vitamin A.

According to nutritionists, it is important to consume foods that have lots of vitamins A, C, and E along with antioxidants that can help neutralize the disease-causing free radicals.

Experts also recommend eating lots of yogurt since it contains a lot of bacterial components along with lactic acid which are known to help protect against breast cancer. Mushrooms prepared in either normal or powdered forms are great too since they are known to possess anti-cancer properties. Including mushrooms in your diet is thus a great idea.
