Jamun is a Fruit That You Should Indulge in – Here’s Why

Jamun is a lesser known tropical fruit that has a high nutrition content complete with unique health benefits. It is also very tasty and satisfying to eat. Jamun comes from an evergreen tree known as Syzgium cumini. It is more commonly known as the java plum, jambul, or black plumb. But it is similar in size to a large grape. You can find jamun growing naturally throughout Asia, the pacific island nations, and some parts of the Americas. The color of java ranges from light pink to dark purple when it fully matures. It has a sweet and sour flavor that can be noticeably astringent depending on when the fruit is picked. Although it has been eaten in many parts of the world for a long time, it is only recently expanding to other parts of the world in large part due to its health benefits.

Jamun, or black plums contain a large number of significant vitamins and minerals. It has vitamin C, magnesium iron, B complex vitamins, dietary fiber, potassium, vitamin A, and protein. It has roughly 75 calories per cup, a minimal amount of fat, and no cholesterol.

Vitamin C is present in jamun in spades. The wonderful vitamin helps to improve white blood cell production which subsequently makes your immune system stronger.
