Is Rosehip Oil Effective in Treating Eczema?

Eczema is the most common skin condition and is of different types.  Plant oils have been used by dermatologists to treat skin conditions. When the plant oils are applied to the skin, they form a protective layer on the skin surface.

Rosehip oil or rosehip seed oil is an essential oil that is obtained from the seeds of the dog rose plant. Rosehip oil contains antioxidants and unsaturated fatty acids which make it a powerful agent. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and makes the skin more elastic and smoother.

Using rosehip oil to treat Eczema

  • You should know what triggers your eczema and act accordingly.
  • Rosehip oil rejuvenates the skin and keeps it hydrated. This prevents the occurrence of eczema.
  • It has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that make it an important remedy to treat eczema.
  • The oil has moisturizing and healing properties and protects the skin from eczema.
  • It reduces the itchiness that is caused by eczema. It helps in healing the itchy patches and bumps.
  • It contains vitamin A and C that help to rejuvenate the skin.
  • Rosehip oil contains fatty acids which make the healing process faster.
  • To increase the shelf-life of rosehip oil, it is mixed with vitamin E. You can apply the oil to the affected area. There is no need to dilute the oil. However, a patch test is recommended.
