How to Treat dust allergies at home

The pollen grains in the spring season or the dust in and around the house can trigger an allergy. Every change of season will also cause uncontrollable sneezing and allergic reactions. There are certain home remedies that you can follow to treat these problems. However, it is highly advisable that you consult your doctor before starting the remedies.

What causes dust allergies?

The main culprits of dust allergy are the dust mites. Cockroaches can also cause dust allergy in some individuals. Mold is a kind of fungus and the spores of mold float in the air. These spores also cause dust allergy. Pollen grains from flowers, trees, and grasses can trigger allergic reactions in some people. Fur, animal hair, and feathers are other causes that can cause dust allergy. The symptoms of dust allergy include continuous sneezing, running nose, coughing and wheezing, itching and red eyes, and shortness of breath.

Here are some home remedies that will help to tackle dust allergies at home.

Home remedies for dust allergies

  • Honey: You will need to consume 2 tsps of honey. Honey is known to prevent dust allergies. It is especially effective for the allergies caused pollen grains.
  • Apple cider vinegar: 2 tsps of apple cider vinegar added to 1 glass of warm water and a little honey on consumption twice to thrice daily will help to treat dust allergy. It is specifically effective for dust allergies whose symptoms resemble cold because apple cider vinegar has anti-microbial properties.
  • Turmeric: You can add ½ tsp turmeric to 1 cup of milk. Allow it to just come to a boil else the milk will curdle. Add some honey and allow the milk to cool. Drink this mixture twice. Turmeric is a natural decongestant and is the best natural remedy to treat dust allergies.
