How to Heal a Vaginal Yeast Infection

A vaginal yeast infection is the result of a fungus called Candida albicans. The fungus lives naturally in the vaginal region. The overgrowth of the fungus is associated with symptoms such as itching, irritation, inflammation, and painful discharge.

It is quite common and most women experience it at one time or the other in life. If you experience the symptoms of a vaginal yeast infection, you should visit your gynecologist. Here are some remedies to heal yeast infections through the use of natural ingredients. However, remember to consult your gynecologist and not attempt to treat the infection yourself.

Natural ways to heal a vaginal yeast infection

Here are some natural remedies to heal a vaginal yeast infection.

  • Greek yogurt: Greek yogurt is considered to be probiotic as it contains the live bacteria lactobacillus. The bacteria create a healthy environment in the vagina and helps heal vaginal yeast infection. Make sure you do not use yogurt that has sugar added to it.
  • Essential oil of Oregano: It is used to treat yeast infections. It is advised to use an oil that has been extracted from wild oregano. These contain powerful anti-fungal agents. Also, make sure you are not allergic to essential oils. Always dilute the essential oil in a carrier oil such as almond oil or olive oil.
  • Coconut oil: Coconut oil is extracted from the flesh of a coconut. It has anti-fungal properties. Make sure you buy only pure and organic coconut oil. This coconut oil can be directly applied to the affected area.
  • Tea tree oil: Tea tree oil is an essential oil and can be used to kill viruses, bacteria, and fungi. Tea tree oil should be diluted with a carrier oil such as jojoba oil or coconut oil. Remember to never swallow essential oils and make sure you are not allergic to them.
