Homemade Oil for Your Hair

Use of hair oil in hair treatments is an effective remedy that has been followed for many years. They help to heal your hair and nourish it without introducing too many unwelcome additives that can actually harm your hair. It can be difficult to figure out exactly what your hair needs, so it is important to experiment and find the exact right remedy. Below are just a few oil blends you can make at home to get started.

Tulsi Hair Oil for an Itchy Scalp

Tulsi is an antibacterial and an antiseptic. It will keep your hair healthy by killing bacteria and other pathogens harming your hair and scalp. It is also a great source of vitamin C and antioxidants which helps to soothe inflammation on your scalp.

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch of tulsi leaves
  • 100 ml coconut oil – cold-pressed
  • 1 tsp fenugreek seeds (optional)

Procedure

  1. Grind the tulsi leaves into a powder.
  2. Mix with a small amount of water to create a thick paste.
  3. Heat coconut oil in a pan at a low temperature then add it to the Tulsi paste.

Note: You can also add a tsp of fenugreek seeds.

  1. Heat oil for 10 minutes at a low temperature.
  2. Set it aside to cool.
  3. Strain the oil and store in an air-tight container.

Jamaican Black Castor Oil for Hair Growth and Thick Hair

Castor oil is what you want to help thicken your hair and stimulate the growth of dormant hair follicles. It even helps to strengthen the hair shafts themselves which overall improves your hair health. Combining it with coconut oil and some essential oils just improves its effectiveness.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Jamaican black castor oil
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil – cold pressed
  • 6 drops lavender essential oil
  • 6 drops rosemary essential oil

Procedure

  1. Combine and blend all the ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Store in an airtight container.

Curry Leaves and Coconut Oil for Grey Hair

This oil blend is perfect for revitalizing your hair. It is a natural exfoliant and can remove dead skin cells, and it has significant quantities of melanin that can restore the pigment in your hair.

Ingredients

  • A handful of curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp cold-pressed coconut oil

Procedure

  1. Heat the coconut oil in a pan and combine it with the curry leaves.
  2. Continue to heat the oil at a low temperature until black residue begins to form around the curry leaves.
  3. Remove oil from heat and let cool.
  4. Store in an airtight container
