Here’s a healthy diet plan for twin pregnancy

It is extremely important to follow a healthy and balanced diet during pregnancy. This will ensure that your baby is growing properly inside. If you are carrying twins, then the amount of nutrition you require will certainly increase. This, however, does not mean that you start eating food for three but it means that you need to include a variety of healthy foods so that the nutritional requirements of your twin babies can be met.

The calorie intake needs to provide the right kind of nutrition to the babies. Here are some nutritional requirements for women who are carrying twin babies.

Protein

Protein is very important for human cells and thus should be included in your daily diet. You should eat protein-rich foods such as lean meat, nuts, beans, milk, Tofu, and cottage cheese. It is best to eat a variety of foods rich in proteins so you do not get bored with eating the same food daily.

Calcium

Calcium is extremely important for the formation of bones and teeth. Spinach, milk, okra, and yogurt are excellent sources of calcium and should be consumed every day by pregnant wen. This will help in formation of strong bones and teeth.

Iron

Red meat, nuts, and seafood are excellent sources of iron. Iron helps to reduce the risk of hypertension and anemia so iron rich foods should be included in your daily diet.

Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates are broken down into glucose which provide energy to the growing babies. Foods rich in carbohydrates are potatoes, rice, pasta, and cereal. Make it a habit to consume foods rich in carbohydrates.

Folic acid

Folic acid prevents the babies from birth defects and is essential for a healthy pregnancy. Pregnant women should consume folic acid every day. Orange, spinach, and asparagus are rich sources of folic acid.
