Here Are Home Remedies for Dealing with Sensitive Teeth

Finding the source of sensitivity is equally important as the recommended treatment. It is advised that you should have regular dental checkups. If you experience toothache after drinking cold beverages or eating cold food, you should consult your doctor. In the meantime, here are some home remedies that you can use to ease the pain.

Home remedies for sensitive teeth

  • Rinsing with salt water: Salt is an antiseptic and helps to reduce inflammation. Gargle with salt water at least two times a day. For this, in a glass of lukewarm water, add approximately 3/4 tsp of salt and mix well. Gargle and spit out the solution.
  • Honey and warm water: Honey is an effective antibacterial agent. Honey is known to speed up healing and reduce swelling, pain, and inflammation. Rinsing the mouth with warm water and 1 tsp of honey will provide relief from the pain that is caused due to sensitive teeth.
  • Turmeric: Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties and is extensively used in ayurvedic treatments. It is also known to enhance healing. To reduce pain from sensitive teeth, massage turmeric powder on the teeth. You can also make a paste by adding 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp turmeric, and 1/2 tsp mustard oil and mix them well to form a paste.  Applying this paste twice on the gums and teeth will provide relief from sensitive teeth.
  • Vanilla extract: Vanilla extract is known to have pain relieving and antiseptic properties. Pour vanilla extract on a cotton ball and apply on the affected area for a few minutes. This will provide relief from the pain.
  • Green tea: It has antioxidant properties. It helps in maintaining oral health. Use unsweetened green tea to gargle twice a day to get relief from sensitive teeth. This will also help to reduce inflammation and help to strengthen teeth.
