Fatigue in Men: Here’s What You Need to Know

Men generally blame fatigue on their fast and hectic lifestyle. The feeling exhaustion is extremely common these days in our fast-paced lives. Sometimes, getting more sleep, eating a wholesome and balanced diet, and cutting on caffeine and alcohol in addition to the consumption of more healthy fluids will help you overcome fatigue. However, if you still feel tired, you should seek medical support as your doctor is the best person to advise you. Here are some common health problems that cause fatigue.

Insulin-resistance

What this means is that the hormone insulin is not able to get the required glucose into the cells of the body. As the cells are not able to absorb blood sugar properly, they are not able to distribute it throughout the body.

A fasting glucose test needs to be done and if the levels are higher than usual, it is a sign that the person has an issue with insulin-resistance. Seeking medical advice is recommended as is also adopting a healthy lifestyle which includes reducing your body weight and including exercise in your everyday routine. It is recommended to eat high fiber foods such as whole grains and beans. Eat fruits such as berries which are extremely rich in antioxidants.

Thyroid Disease

If the thyroid hormone is low, even day to day activities will cause fatigue. The thyroid gland produces hormones which control metabolism.

A blood test is recommended to detect thyroid disease. It is recommended to reduce the intake of coffee. Iodine-rich products too help as do foods rich in protein. These will help thyroid gland health. Legumes are particularly great as are foods rich in zinc.

Anemia

Anemia results in a feeling of weakness and tiredness all the time.  It is best to consume foods that are rich in iron. These include leafy green vegetables, beans, and nuts.

Lack of Sleep

If you’ve been sleeping too less, this is likely the cause of your tiredness and fatigue. You need to take a good night’s sleep and avoid taking tea or coffee before going to bed. Eating a balanced diet that includes lots of fresh fruits and vegetables is also recommended.
