The Benefits of Yogurt in Regulating Blood Pressure!

There are many reasons to eat yogurt; it’s already considered one of the healthier snacks available. Yogurt has all kinds of health benefits. It’s most lauded for being a probiotic, containing calcium, and being a non-meat protein source, and having vitamin D. Recent studies have shown that yogurt probably has some other health benefits that may have been overlooked. Apparently, no matter what type of yogurt you prefer, Greek or plain, it has the ability to help regulate your blood pressure.

The study presented to the American heart Association concluded that women who ate a minimum of 5 servings of yogurt per week lowered the risk of developing hypertension by 20 percent in comparison to women who ate no yogurt. Dairy products like cheese and milk have already been proven to be effective at reducing the risk of high blood pressure in adults. But this is the first study to exclusively look at yogurt.  Yogurt’s effect on blood pressure has been proven to be even stronger at regulating blood pressure than other dairy products.

This study just proves that yogurt is a top tier snack. It might be time to invest in a parfait if you haven’t already. Just make sure to eat yogurt as part of a well-balanced diet. If you can’t get out to buy a parfait, then try making your own at home. Simply pick your favorite yogurt and mix it with a handful of fresh organic berries, and granola or nuts. Your taste buds and your health will thank you. Yogurt is also a probiotic which will help improve your gut health. In several parts of India, yogurt is a part of every meal. Great for snacking, and amazing as dip, yogurt is a perfect protein source for vegetarians!
