Benefits of Guava Leaves for Hair

Guava leaves are all the rage lately; they’re literally littering the internet thanks to their amazing abilities to prevent hair loss. They are not just great for preventing hair loss, they are also an amazing hair thickening agent that can encourage your hair to grow rapidly like never before. Guava leaves have the ability to do this, mostly by creating a good environment for your scalp to be healthy.

Hair loss is typically a result of one of two conditions: genetics or an unhealthy scalp. There is not much you can do about the former; some people just have bad luck, but you can definitely take steps to treat the latter. Changing your scalp’s unhealthy environment can even help slow down the hair loss caused by unfortunate genes.

How Guava Leaves Can Help Your Scalp Conditions

The reason guava leaves are so effective at keeping your scalp healthy is because of their innate properties. Guava leaves have natural anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties. Each property plays a role in keeping your scalp healthy and doing what you want it to do, which is growing hair. These same properties are why you find guava leaves as a primary part of soap and shampoo ingredients. On top of everything else, guava leaves have also been utilized to treat other scalp issues like dandruff and improve the general health of your hair follicles due to its inherent nutrients, such as B complex vitamins and vitamin C.

How to Use Guava Leaves to Improve Hair Growth

It is actually relatively simple to prepare a great guava leaf hair maintenance solution. It is a little bit more complicated than simply picking up a handful of guava leaves and rubbing them on your head. The best and simplest solution is to prepare a guava leaf lotion. You can do this by yourself at home with a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time.

How to Make Guava Leaf Lotion for Your Scalp

Ingredients You Will Need

  • Handful of guava leaves
  • 1 liter of water
  • A pot for boiling
  • Strainer

Preparation

  1. Pour a liter of water into the pot then place the pot on the stove.
  2. Toss the guava leaves into the boiling water.
  3. Let the leaves boil in the water for about 20 minutes or so.
  4. Strain the liquid and set it aside to properly cool.

How to Apply Your Guava Leaf Lotion to Your Scalp
Now that you have your fancy new guava leaf lotion you don’t want to just apply it to your scalp right away. You have to make some preparations and follow a certain process to maximize its effectiveness and make sure that it’s actually treating your scalp.

  1. Wash your hair thoroughly with shampoo, but make sure you don’t use conditioner.
  2. Wait till your hair is mostly dry, start sectioning it and applying the guava leaf lotion solution directly to your scalp.
  3. Once you have applied the solution to your scalp, make sure you massage it into your scalp for at least 10 minutes. (Make sure your hair is thoroughly saturated with the solution.)
  4. Pay extra careful attention to the roots and tips of your hair follicles while applying the solution.
  5. Leave the solution in for about two hours. If you are worried that the solution will cause a mess, then you should wrap your hair in towel (you can sleep with the solution in and leave it overnight this way).
  6. Rinse the solution out of your hair using lukewarm water.

How Often Should You Apply the Solution

To maximize the effectiveness of the guava leaf solution, use it at least three times a week. If you just need to speed up the rate of hair growth or want to improve its natural luster, use it two times a week.

How Safe is it? This is a one hundred percent safe treatment, but you should still take some precautions to ensure that you’re not making the solution ineffective:

First make sure that the guava leaf solution has completely cooled down to room temperature before you begin to apply it to your hair. Second, make sure you are not rinsing your hair out with hot water, as it will dry out your scalp and hair, thereby making the treatment ineffective.

Guava leaves are fantastic for preventing your hair from falling out and stimulating new hair growth. But they have quite a few other medicinal properties, such as fighting free radicals that can damage your hair, improving blood pressure, and soothing your hair follicles. So, go ahead and try this simple yet powerful hair treatment today!
