grams vanjaram fish steak: 200
tsp ginger garlic paste: 1
A pinch ground turmeric
salt to taste
Lemon juice as needed
tsp red chilli powder: 1/2
tsp garam masala powder
: 1/4
Oil or ghee as needed

How To Make Spicy Vanjaram Varuval
- Rinse the fish with water. Drain well.
- Mix ginger garlic paste, turmeric, salt, lemon juice, red chilli powder and garam masala in a bowl. Add the fish and marinate.
- Heat a pan with oil. Add the curry leaves and cook until they turn crispy.
- Add fish to the pan. Cover and cook on low heat for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Turn the fish carefully, cover and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Remove the cover and increase the heat to medium-high. Cook untilthe fish turns golden and the moisture is evaporated. Turn the fish over and cook until golden.
- Season to taste with additional red chilli powder and garam masala.
- Serve it hot with rice.

This species of fish is also called seer fish, king mackerel or Indo-Pacific mackerel. This fast swimming fish has very sharp teeth and it fights very energetically.
