Ingredients

Ground Beef: 1 1/2 lbs

tbsp olive oil: 2

medium onion--choped: 1

or more garlic cloves: 2

bay leaves: 2

oregano: 1 tsp

tsp dried basil: 1

mixed Italian seasoning: 1 tsp

tsp salt: 1

tsp ground black pepper: 1

can tomato paste (6 ounce can): 1

can tomato sauce ( 16 ounce can): 2

can diced tomatoes (28 ounce can): 1

parmesan cheese to preference (grated)

ounces sliced fresh mushrooms sautéed in butter: 8

How To Make Spaghetti Sauce

  1. In a large, deep pot heat olive oil on a medium-high flame and add garlic. Sauté until fragrant.
  2. Add onions and fry for 1-2 minutes until or until they are translucent.
  3. Add ground beef, salt, pepper, oregano, basil, bay leaves and Italian seasoning to the pan. Fry until the beef is browned and cooked through.
  4. Add tomato sauce, paste and diced tomatoes to the beef and stir well.
  5. Reduce the flame to a medium-low, cover the pan with a lid and let the sauce cook for around 1 ½ hours. The consistency of the sauce should not be thin.
  6. Mix in parmesan cheese and mushrooms, pour over spaghetti or any other pasta and serve hot.
