Spinach is one of the most nutritious vegetables out there; what can be better than using it to prepare a delicious snack? While it might not be the favorite vegetable for your kids, it is essential to include leafy greens in their diets. If your kids are the type to resist, then you should make it more appetizing by preparing them with a twist. So how about taking a humble dosa and turning it into a healthy and tasty palak or spinach dosa? While a palak dosa is not as crispy as the regular masala or sada dosas, it is jam-packed with flavors.

Ingredients

½ cup of spinach puree

¼ cup of urad dal or split black lentils

1 cup of whole wheat flour

½ tsp methi seeds

2 tsp of oil

salt to taste

How To Make Palak Dosa

  • Take a deep bottomed bowl and put the urad dal and methi seeds in it.
  • Soak them in water for 2 hours.
    • Drain the mixture well.
  • Put the dal and methi seeds in a blender.
  • Add ½ cup of water and blend them to form a smooth paste.
  • Add the spinach puree, whole wheat flour, and salt to the paste in a bowl and mix well.
    • Add a small cup of water to achieve the proper consistency.
    • Mix everything well to form the dosa batter.
  • Take a girdle and put it on a medium flame.
  • Scoop a ladle full of the batter and spread it on a girdle in a circular motion.
    • Note: Make sure to spread the batter thinly over the girdle.
  • Dot the edges of the dosa with some oil and sprinkle some more over it.
  • Cook the dosa on a medium flame until it turns golden brown on the bottom.
  • Fold the dosa and take it off the flame.
