Ingredients

cup moong dal or yellow split mung beans: 1/4

cup oats: 1/2

cup mix vegetables – chopped: 1/2-3/4

tbsp onion: 2

small tomato deseeded: 1

cups water: 1 3/4 - 2

tbsp ghee/oil: 1

tsp cumin/jeera: 1/2

tsp ginger grated – crushed: 1/2

green chili slit: 1

salt as needed

tsp turmeric: 1/8

pinch of asafetida

How To Make Oats Khichdi

  • Wash and soak moong dal in water.
  • Wash and chop veggies.

Make oats khichdi

  • Coat the pressure cooker with ghee.
  • Add cumin and heat till it begins to sizzle.
  • Add ginger and chilitill it turnsaromatic.
  • Add asafetida.
  • Add all the veggies and sauté for about 2-3 mins.
  • Drain the water from dal and pour the dal into the pot.
    • Cook for 2 -3 minsor until the dal turns aromatic.
  • Add oatmeal, salt and turmeric.
    • Cook for around 2 mins.
  • Pour water into the cooker.
    • NOTE: Adjust the water quantity to make the dal more mushy or grainy.
  • Cook for one whistle on a medium flame.
