Ingredients
ghee: 5 tbsp
jaggery – grated: ¾ cup
whole wheat flour: 1 cup
cardamom powder: ¼ tsp
poppy seeds: 1 tsp
desiccated coconut: 1 tsp
a few almonds and pistachios – for garnishing
How To Make Gol Papdi
- Melt ghee in the pan, add wheat flour, and saute on low flame. Continue till it turns golden brown in color. Stir continuously.
- Remove the flour from the flame and add cardamom powder, coconut, and jaggery. Take a greased thali of diameter 6 inches and sprinkle poppy seeds on it. When the jaggery melts and the mixture is a bit warm, pour on the greased thali and spread evenly with the help of a small spoon.
- Cut into diamond shapes and garnish with almonds and pistachios. Store in an airtight container.
Grate the jaggery thinly so that no lumps are formed.
