Ginger Chutney

Ginger Chutney for dosa is an amazing recipe you can always enjoy. It combines unique ginger chutney with the much beloved dosa for an original eating experience. The dosa is a southern Indian specialty made from lentils and fermented rice. They are most similar in style to the French crepe.

One of the main ingredients in this dosa is of course, ginger. Ginger has many medicinal properties and has been used historically in teas and tinctures. Practically, it is a great treatment for nausea and other digestive problems. It can also be used to treat muscle pain and a host of other medical issues. The ginger from the chutney in combination with the dota’s fiber and protein makes for a powerhouse healthy meal, that will go down smooth.

Ingredients

ginger--chopped: 1½ tbsp

medium onion-chopped: 1

tomato: 1/2

red chillis: 2

urad dal: 2 tsp

Chana dal: 2 tsp

curry leaves: 8

coriander seed: 1 tsp

coconut- grated: 1 tbsp

tamarind paste: 1 tsp

Jaggery: 2 tsp

Mustard seeds: 1/2 tsp

oil: 3 tsp

salt to taste

How To Make Ginger Chutney

  1. Heat 2 tsp oil in a saucepan over a low flame.
  2. Add the urad dal, chana dal, and 5 curry leaves.
    1. Fry a little until the dal turnsa light brown.
  1. Put in the red chillis, onion, coriander seeds, and the ginger.
    1. Stir it so that the onion can become translucent. 
  1. Mix in the tomato and salt till the mixture is soft and tender.
  2. Note: This might take about 2 minutes.
  3. Turn the flame off and let the mixture cool.
  4. Put the mixture into a blender and add coconut, jaggery, tamarind paste, and 3 tbsp water.
    1. Blend well until a smooth texture is obtained.
    2. Transfer the contents into a waiting bowl.
  5. Heat 1 tsp oil in the same saucepan.
    1. Put in the mustard seed after the oil begins to crackle
    2. Add 2 curry leaves to it and stir for 40 seconds.
  6. Remove the saucepan from the flame and pour it over the ginger chutney.
  7. Serve immediately.Also you can store in food storage container to keep it fresh for hours together
