However, if you choose to add extra cheese into it then you should refrain from eating it very often as it would surely result in a few extra pounds.

Ingredients

large bun: 1

frozen minced sausages: 1

chopped onion: 1

tomato sauce: 1 cup

mustard: 1 cup

grated mozzarella cheese: 2 cups

olive oil as needed

salt to taste

Freshly ground black pepper to taste

red pepper flakes to taste

dried thyme: 1 tbsp

Dried oregano: 1 tbsp

dried parsley leaves: 1 tbsp

How To Make Cudighi

For the Sausages

  1. Take a non-stick frying pan.
  2. Put it on the stove on low flame.
  3. Add 3 to 4 tablespoons of olive oil into the pan.
  4. Add frozen minced sausages into the pan.
  5. Leave them to defrost in the pan at low heat for 5 to 10 minutes.
  6. After that, raise the heat to medium and stir-fry the sausages for 5 minutes.
  7. Add salt, freshly ground black pepper and red pepper flakes into the pan.
  8. Mix all the spices with the sausages and fry for another 5 minutes or until the sausages are tender.
  9. Add dried oregano, dried parsley leaves and dried thyme into the pan.
  10. Mix all the leaves with the sausages well.
  11. Cover the pan with a lid and cook on low heat for 10 to 15 minutes until the sausages are completely tender.
  12. Take the sausages off the heat after 15 minutes and set them aside until they are needed for the Cudighi.

For the Cudighi

  1. Slice the bun from the middle.
  2. Apply tomato sauce on one side of the bun in hefty amounts.
  3. Apply mustard on the other side of the bun generously.
  4. Take the fried sausages from the pan and place them on top of the sauce in a large quantity as well. Make sure, you can see a significant increase in the height of the sandwich due to the addition of the sausages.
  5. Add onions on top of the sausages.
  6. Sprinkle grated mozzarella cheese on top of the onions in generous amounts.
  7. Cover the sandwich with the other half of the bun.
  8. Grease a baking dish with some olive oil.
  9. Place the sandwich into it and bake for 5 to 10 minutes in a pre-heated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  10. Remove from the oven serve hot!
